Warm leaves in a cool breeze. Using tissue paper and oil pastels, 2nd graders used their knowledge of warm and cool colors to create a collaged leaf blowing in the wind.

2nd graders learned about two different types of self portraits: realistic and abstract. On the left, students painted themselves based on what they saw in a mirror, and on the right, they used bright markers to create an abstract version of themselves. They learned that "abstract" is a little bit real, with extra imagination.

In 2nd grade, students created clay owls. They first cut out a circle, then folded the left and right side over to create the wings, then finally folded over the top to create the head. Texture and details we added with recycled items like glue stick caps as well as tooth picks. Students can't wait to paint these owls and really bring them to life.

To bring their clay owls to life, 2nd graders used shades of brown paint for the feathers then added pops of color to their large eyes. With a pipe cleaner attached at the top, these owls will be able to hang from anywhere!
